“What keeps you awake at night?”
Jo Stewart-Rattray
Director of Technology & Security Assurance
Session Outline
A board director recently asked a CISO what kept her awake at night. This was a confronting question particularly as she wanted to say “the lack of budget and resourcing that I face”. Given that budget and funding is set and approved by the board that response could’ve been career limiting. So how should a CISO deal with such situations? What does keep a CISO awake at night? Why do CISO’s change organisations regularly? Where in the org structure does the CISO sit?
This session will put a spotlight on the issues that CISO’s face and how they deal with them in order to ensure that security is taken seriously across an organisation particularly where technology and therefore security is not seen as being core to the organisations deliverables. It’s not insurmountable and the role of a CISO can be very rewarding but there is often a bumpy path to negotiate and at the end of this session we hope that you will have more insight into the world of the CISO and will wish to aspire to such a role.
